City of Snellville, Police Department
Columbia Engineering was invited to join Pieper O'Brien Herr Architects' team for the City of Snellville’s new state of the art police department headquarters project. Our reputation for quality work, familiarity with city code and staff, and the ability to efficiently obtain project entitlements allowed us to contribute to the team’s success on this project. Columbia worked closely with the Architect and Construction Manager to keep costs substantially under budget.
Site related challenges included zoning and variance issues, re-development of an existing office park, grading, conflicts with existing utilities, and access. Stormwater management drove much of the site related cost as the detention storage needed to be provided via an underground vault. Our professional staff formulated creative solutions to reduce the size of the vault, within the constraints of city code and sound engineering practice.
