Roswell Road at Grogans Ferry Road

Roswell Road at Grogans Ferry Road is a heavily traveled section of roadway. This project involved the design of the intersection improvement and access control project along the primary thoroughfare in the city in order to provide safety to the residences.

The design modified a 14’ flush median to a raised median throughout with a signalized intersection. The project was the first in the city to implement the Next Ten concept which aims to change the Roswell Road corridor to a boulevard feel.

Access for businesses was limited due to the raised median, leading to concerns from businesses; 6’ sidewalks were added on each side of the roadway and a 12’ multiuse trail was added along Grogans Ferry Road. Columbia Engineering assisted the City with the public information open house to explain the need to the businesses and receive their feedback on the design, and met with local property owners affected by the design.
