SR 30A (US 98) -

Panama City Beach Parkway

Six-Lane Expansion, Florida Department of Transportation

The roadway project was to expand three miles of SR 30A (US 98) / Panama City Beach Parkway from four to six lanes. Columbia redesigned traffic signals at three intersections to accommodate the widened roadway and upgraded ITS features along the corridor.

The ITS upgrade included designing a new fiber optic trunk line which would connect to similar projects to the west and east of the subject project. All three would be let to construction together, which required coordination with all design firms.

The project included ITS devices, including CCTV cameras and connected vehicle Edge Computing units and detectors to support the SmartBay Connected Vehicle system. The devices were installed at three signalized intersections along the roadway segment.

Columbia was a subconsultant to AECOM.
