Columbia was selected as a mapping partner for the FY09 Georgia Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map (DFIRM) and Flood Insurance Study (FIS). Scope included 430 FEMA compliant natural cross sections and 219 hydraulic structure surveys along 56 miles of the Chattahoochee River between Buford Dam and the northerly line of Heard County, and 150 miles of tributaries (small & medium watershed) in Coweta, Cobb, Gwinnett, and Fulton Counties.
Work was performed in accordance with specifications contained in Chapter M.5, Survey Submittal Standards, of FEMA Appendix M Data Capture Standards. Deliverables included images of digital photos taken at each cross section, PDF files of cross section sketches, and a spreadsheet file of points located at each cross section. Surveys included hydraulic structures including major highway, road and rail bridges, dams, transects, culverts and channels, and natural cross section surveys.
