McIntosh Parkway

Lead consultant for 0.4 miles of existing roadway widening and reconstruction along with one mile total of new roadway construction, to connect downtown Newnan with the Ashley Park shopping area. The project includes roundabout intersection design at the crossing of McIntosh Parkway and Greison Trail and 4,000 LF of 8-foot concrete sidewalk and 4,500 LF of a 10’ asphalt shared-use path. ROW plans were developed for acquisition of easements. The project also includes three new bridge culverts, utility coordination, a closed drainage system, intersection realignments, striping and signing, erosion control, and comprehensive monitoring plans.

McIntosh Parkway included constraints and challenges such as the roundabout design, utilizing design standards to fit within previously purchased right-of-way, construction staging, and waterline/sanitary sewer design. Columbia Engineering is also currently providing construction engineering and inspections services for this project. Our staff conducts routine inspections, tracks materials, enforces the GDOT specifications and special provisions, and approves invoicing based on construction progress.
