The City of Suwanee, GA is now completing construction on the 2nd phase of White Street Park, which includes a large public orchard.  The project will be the first of its kind in the Southeast and will feature a fully functional orchard and natural playground that will be open to the community later this fall.  The Orchard at White Street Park will be a welcoming space for people of all ages. It is designed to provide families with a fun and engaging space that changes through the seasons.  The park’s design encourages creative and self-guided outdoor play and will eventually grow fresh fruit providing nourishment for the mind, body, and soul!

Suwanee resident, Roger Grant is a professional Landscape Architect and Certified Arborist at Columbia Engineering in Duluth, Georgia. Columbia Engineering has been supportive of Roger volunteering his time to design the orchard. As a Columbia Engineering employee, he provides construction management for the project for the City of Suwanee.  Roger has recruited his wife, Brittany, and together they manage The Orchard’s volunteer campaign on social media.  Roger and Brittany’s young sons, Ben and Wes serve as the official slide testers for the 12′ and 30′ slides that are a part of the natural

Columbia Engineering promotes community involvement and Roger Grant has served as a great example of how sharing your skills and talents can make an awesome difference in the communities in which we live.  Congratulations, Roger on a job well done!

UPDATE:  On May 21, 2017, the open house was a great success.  Lots of folks came out to help and to see what the Orchard was all about!  The pictures posted here are from that day; however do not reflect the number of people who came out.  Everyone was so busy working at the height of the event, that pictures became a second priority!
